The co-founder was Mr. K. S. Luthra. A masters in fluid mechanics and subsequent service in the fluid power industry in the United States of America and who had introduced the very concept of import substitute for fluid power in India during it's inception.

The company achieved it's milestone when all the cement companies in India started buying solenoid valves replacing all the foreign makes that were originally supplied with the imported equipment. Gradually as the machinery manufacturing segment in India started increasing, LUTHRA came to be know about as one of the most reliable makes for pneumatic cylinders / hydraulic cylinders / solenoid valves / filter / regulator / lubricator.

The dream of achieving product reliability and at the same time getting it onto the same platform of global competitiveness came true when the company had an alliance with M/S. NASSE MAGNETE GMBH - GERMANY for solenoid systems and armatures. Subsequent to the alliance, the 'PACE' series German solenoid valves was born. Other alliances with 'JORC- NETHERLANDS for AUTO DRAIN VALVES completed the range of products and enabled the company offer consultancy for complete pneumatic installations in plants.

The company is one of the major players in hydraulic cylinders / power packs in India. The power packs manufactured at their premises under technical collaboration with M/s YUKEN INDIA. The hydraulic seals are imported from BUSAK + SHAMBAN - GERMANY for hydraulic cylinders and the tubes are honed inhouse on honing machines, eliminating probability of sub-standard sub-contracted honing jobs.

The company with a network of sixty five dealers / sub - dealers in India and abroad who are operating in every corner of the country and outside it forms a formidable combination of delivering LUTHRA products on time and also providing after sales service.

LUTHRA make products come with a six months unconditional warranty on all it's products and sealkits for it's cylinders and valves are available X- stock at all the dealers in India and abroad. The next step would be looking at attaining global recognition for products which are the fruits of major investments made at it's research and development centers in Vasai and Pune .
